By investing in carbon offset programs you are neutralising the greenhouse gas emissions created from your personal daily life. These carbon emissions can’t be avoided but they can be offset against energy conservation programs such as Enviro Saver.
There are many different ways carbon offsets are produced. Enviro Saver Carbon Offset can provide several different types of carbon offsets which are created from different carbon reduction programs. The main carbon offsets provided on this site are offsets created through the Enviro Saver energy efficiency program.
The Enviro Saver carbon neutral program enables every one of us to invest in accredited greenhouse gas offset certificates. These carbon offsets are created from Department of Climate Change Greenhouse Friendly™ accredited programs. The offset certificates you purchase are accredited so you know you are achieving genuine carbon neutrality for your daily activities.
The offset certificates are created through the Enviro Saver Program conducted in NSW, ACT, QLD, VIC & SA. The program involves the installation of energy & water efficient devices into commercial premises and domestic homes.
The different types of offsets available include:
Carbon credits can provide commercial drivers for business to invest in energy efficiency. For example, installing energy efficient products and appliances reduce carbon emissions. This is a premium offset product as again, it replaces the need for coal generation in the market as it reduces demand. The energy efficiency credits available on this site are produced through the Enviro Saver Program.
It is the most expensive but it is a permanent solution to reducing carbon emissions in the environment as it replaces the coal generation in the market. These are produced through renewable energy programs such as wind turbine, solar and hydro.
Carbon credits that are created from the planting of trees. There has been criticism in the media that there may tree planting projects that may not generate the benefits expected so care needs to be taken on the projects that are supported. You must ensure they are accredited under reputable national or international schemes.
There are carbon credits that are accredited through the United Nations under the Kyoto Protocol to support carbon credits in developing countries. This option enables buyers to support economic and social development in these countries as well as the added benefit of reducing emissions. (http://unfccc.int/2860.php)
